POSITION: Clinical Nurse Leader (Acute Care)
TOUR OF DUTY:to be determined (12 and 9 hour tours)
The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) demonstrates a high level of clinical practice, leadership, and skills to improve/coordinate patient care for an adult population. Specific practice settings include Medical/Surgical ICU, Progressive Care, Acute Medical – Surgical Telemetry, and the Emergency Department. He/she is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and practice, demonstrating leadership in improving nursing care, fulfill the requirements of the Clinical Nurse Leader Functional Statement, mentoring of new staff, consultation and collaboration with the health care team, as well as problem resolution. The Clinical Nurse Leader is directly responsible to the Chief Nurse/ Nurse Manager of the unit, and is responsible and accountable for the coordination of care for a culturally diverse veteran population.
DUTIES:
Continuouse improvement in cost/financial outcomes such as length of stay, patient flow, readmission rate and registered nurse turnover
Continuous improvement in patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction and retention
Continuous improvement of quality/internal process outcomes such as medication management, patient safety and prevention of nosocomial infections
Practice model Transformation such as evidence-based and collaborative, interdisciplinary practice
Demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age related needs of patients served in the assigned area of practice
Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with all internal and external customers
Maintain confidentiality of electronic, written, and/or verbal patient/employee information
Demonstrate working practices that include adherence to Infection Control standards and the safe use and operation of equipment
Conform with all medical center and service/service-line safety policies, procedures and protocols to avoid injury and/or illness to self and others
Prepare all reports and documentation pertaining to employee injuries within established time frames utilizing the ASISTS
