Position Summary:

The Orlando VA Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Nurse Leader/Registered Nurse (RN) to function as an advanced generalist at the point of care to manage and coordinate the care of the veterans on our acute inpatient Med/Surg Units.  The CNL is not an administrative role. The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) practices expert level nursing at the unit level, providing care coordination for the duration of a patient’s stay. The CNL collaborates with the Nurse Manager to elevate the clinical expertise and practice of the nursing staff, utilizing the nursing process to facilitate efficient and effective patient care and movement, and optimizing patient outcomes at the individual and unit level.   The CNL’s focus is at point of care and patterns of variations in clinical outcomes employing critical evaluation and mitigation of risks in safety, effectiveness, timeliness, and efficiency. The CNL promotes interdisciplinary team delivery of Veteran centric care.  The CNL helps to enhance staff education and professional development using evidence-based practice to improve skills and identify strategies to deal with issues that may hinder therapeutic relationships. The CNL reports directly to the Medical Unit Nurse Manager.

Working Hours:    Normal work days/hours will primarily be Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with work day/hours flexibility required as administrative and/or clinical demands require.
