A Clinical Nurse Leader Initiative to Improve Flow, Patient Outcomes, and the Environment for the Patient Being Ruled Out for Clostridium Difficile
In January 2008, an interdisciplinary team that focuses on patient flow within the hospital noted that when census increased there were a high number of patients on precautions blocking beds. As a member of this team, one CNL took the initiative to assess one of these precaution groups and noted that 11-15 patients a day were being ruled out for Clostridium Difficile (C-Diff).
